20-Minute Dinners Plan
For weeknights when you want a real dinner, just a fast one.

This plan splits the week in two: breakfasts and lunches are made ahead in bulk, while dinners are cooked fresh in 20 minutes or less. That split is what keeps weeknights realistic — you never come home to a container of five-day-old stir-fry.
Prep-day playbook (Sunday, about 75 minutes): rice and oats start at zero; two sheet pans of vegetables roast at 400°F from 0:10; a pot of turkey chili and a tray of egg muffins run at 0:25; chicken is portioned for Caesar salads and burrito bowls at 0:45; everything is boxed by 1:15.
Storage guide: chili and grains 4 days; egg muffins 5 days; roasted vegetables 4–5; Caesar salad keeps best with dressing packed separately. Friday's dinner is intentionally a fresh 20-minute fish dish, and any leftover chili freezes well.
Dinners run 430–515 calories and the days land between 1,450 and 1,650 calories, so a fast weeknight plate still fits the plan.
Portion guide
Portions are written for ~1,500-calorie days. Add one extra ounce of protein at dinner rather than more starch if you are hungrier after a workout.
quick meal plan
Breakfast is about 25% of daily calories, lunch about 35%, dinner about 30% and two snacks make up the rest. Nutrition values are approximate.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get dinner on the table in 20 minutes without prep?
Keep three fast proteins in the freezer — shrimp, thin fish fillets, and chicken cutlets — plus a cooked grain and a bag of frozen vegetables. Any combination sears in 8–10 minutes and the grain reheats in two, which is the whole 20-minute formula.
Should I cook dinner fresh or eat the Sunday batch?
Both, and this plan does both on purpose. Chili, grains, and roasted vegetables come from Sunday; stir-fries, tacos, and fish are cooked the night you eat them because they lose too much texture in the fridge.
What is the best way to reheat cooked chicken?
Sprinkle a tablespoon of water over it, cover loosely, and microwave in 45-second bursts until steaming. For a better texture, reheat cutlets in a dry skillet for two minutes a side; the outside crisps back up.
