Air Fryer Weight Loss Recipes

Air fryer versions of the week's batch-cook meals, for kitchens where the oven is slow, shared, or simply too hot to run in summer.

An air fryer is a small convection oven, and that makes it very good at the same jobs a sheet pan does: browning chicken, crisping vegetables, and setting egg cups. The advantage is speed and a smaller batch, which suits anyone cooking for one or two people rather than a family of five.

Recipes here use one to two tablespoons of oil across a whole tray, which is far less than deep frying and comparable to roasting. The trade-off is capacity. Cook in a single layer, work in batches, and shake the basket halfway so everything browns evenly.

Frequently asked questions

Is air frying healthier than deep frying?

Air frying uses much less oil than deep frying, so the same food usually carries fewer calories and less fat. It is not a shortcut to weight loss on its own — a breaded air-fried portion is still a breaded portion — but for chicken, vegetables, and egg dishes it delivers the texture people want with a tablespoon of oil instead of a cup.

Can I cook frozen chicken or vegetables in an air fryer?

Yes for most frozen vegetables; add them straight from the bag and cook at 380°F, shaking the basket every 5 minutes. For frozen chicken pieces, follow the package directions first and always check that the center reaches 165°F with a thermometer before eating.

How do I keep air-fried food from drying out?

Spritz the food with a little oil rather than pouring it on, keep the temperature between 375°F and 400°F for chicken, and pull food as soon as it hits the target temperature instead of adding minutes for color. For reheating prepped meals, cover them loosely so steam can escape but the surface does not turn to leather.
